Bright Light Medical Imaging in Wheaton, IL is seeking a Patient Relations Specialist for a full-time, on-site role. You will greet patients, handle calls, assist with check-in, process payments, and schedule appointments using Medics Premier.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, data entry experience, and knowledge of medical terminology. Benefits include PTO, medical, and other insurance options.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients professionally in person and by phone.
• Answer, screen and direct incoming calls.
• Assist with check-in forms and maintain patient records.
• Process payments and protect patient information per HIPAA.
• Schedule and confirm clinical appointments using Medics Premier.
• Notify technologists of arrivals and assist patient flow.
• Coordinate with internal departments; understand insurance protocols.
• Obtain authorizations and verify financial clearance.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 15 lbs.

Patient Relations Specialist, Full-time

Compensation: $18.00 - $19.50 / hour

What We Are Looking For:

Location: On-site Wheaton

Days/Hours: Monday- Friday, hours vary between 7:45 am - 4:15 pm

Overview Of Key Responsibilites:

• Greet patients professionally and courteously, both in person and on the phone
• Answering, screening and directing incoming calls as necessary
• Assist patients with check in forms, maintain accurate patient records and collect and process applicable payments
• Perform clerical account processing while confidentially maintaining and protecting patient information by adhering to the HIPAA Privacy Rule
• Scheduling and confirming of clinical appointments utilizing our medical records platform, Medics Premier
• Ensure orders are correctly scheduled; name, exam type, referring provider, authorization request
• Assists with administrative support in collaborating with internal departmental teams
• Notify technologist of appointment arrivals, assist with patient flow
• Comprehension of standard insurance protocols for referrals, authorizations, co-payments, deductibles
• Obtain authorization for scheduled services, providing any required clinical documents if needed, notification made if financial clearance is not achieved in advance of appointed date
• Perform all other duties as assigned
• Ability to alternate between prolonged periods sitting, frequent standing, lifting, reaching, stooping. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs

Education, Experience & Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED Certificate
• Relevant prior experience favored working in medical/office setting
• Prior data entry/word processing experience
• Medical terminology knowledge is a plus
