The Lead Patient Registration Technician at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters oversees day-to-day front office operations, ensuring accurate data collection, scheduling, insurance verification, and up-to-date patient accounts for families.

You will render excellent customer service, coordinate with clinical staff, maintain medical records and accounts receivable, perform charge entry, and provide clerical support while reporting to the Manager/Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years related work experience.
  • Ability to relate well with the public.
  • Ability to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of computer data entry processes.
  • General knowledge of ICD-9/CPT coding and third party payer insurance verification processes and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors upon arrival or via telecommunication.

Job description

The Lead Patient Registration Technician is responsible for the day to day operations and staffing for the front office and functions. Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems. Performs patient scheduling, registration processes, insurance verification, maintains account information, co-payments, referrals, authorizations, and billing inquiry functions. Reports to the Manager/Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greets, instructs, directs and assists patients and visitors upon arrival to the service area or through telecommunication devices.
  • Renders exceptional customer service to parents, patients, visitors and co-workers.
  • Serves as coordinator, expert and patient liaison for healthcare services.
  • Assists in maintaining medical records, filing systems, account balances and reconciliation of days accounts receivable.
  • Performs charge entry and charge batching processes.
  • Provides clerical and secretarial support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
  • None required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years related work experience required.
  • Ability to relate well with the public.
  • Ability to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.
  • Knowledge of computer data entry processes required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working conditions due to performance of certain patient care activities.
