Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Flexible, detail oriented, organized and professional.
• Strong communication skills to obtain information from patients and physicians.
• Ability to multitask, organize work, and establish priorities.
• Numerical ability to discuss financial arrangements including deposits.
• Ability to remain calm and solve problems in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients or representatives to collect demographic and billing information.
• Assist patients with consent and workers' compensation forms.
• Pre-register patients prior to scheduled admission (phone or in person).
• Responsible for point-of-service collections.
• Identify need for financial counseling and refer to Financial Clearance Unit.
• Demonstrate knowledge of insurance payers and electronic verification systems.
• Coordinate with House Supervisor for scheduled admits as needed.
• Update patient type changes based on physician orders.
• Inform surgery patients of scheduled admit and times.
• Follow downtime procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
