Job summary

Responsibilities include pre-registering patients, confirming eligibility, collecting co-pays, and communicating with physician offices daily.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in a customer service role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families to address questions and provide courteous, timely assistance.
• Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs.
• Schedules patient procedures and pre-registers patients by obtaining accurate demographic information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility using designated applications and captures correct health insurance details.
• Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable.
• Communicates operative reports daily to appropriate physician offices.
• Compiles and organizes registration documentation to ensure completion of patient records.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and resolves insurance questions.
• Documents when a patient cannot sign consent forms and notes who signs for them.
• Places armbands on patients for proper identification.
• Answers and returns phone calls with professionalism and courtesy.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
