Job summary

Connecticut Orthopaedics in Wallingford, CT, seeks a Registration Specialist responsible for verifying insurance benefits, referrals, and pre-authorization for workers' compensation, and for pre-estimation needs.

The registration associate acts as an expert resource to all staff within the department and the CBO, related to the processes associated with registering patients, referrals, and worker's compensation pre-authorizations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience with Epic, Amkai, Practice Management and EMR; payer eligibility websites is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Verify eligibility and registrations using Epic, Amkai, Availity, Medicaid, Medicare, and similar websites.
  • Collect pre-payments from patients for non-covered procedures and self-pay appointments.
  • Interact with patients to collect insurance and demographic information via email or phone.
  • Serve as a liaison for registrations, referrals, workers' compensation, and pre-estimation needs.
  • Add insurance company/plans, employers, referrals and provider information.
  • Handle workers' compensation authorizations and enter information into Epic and/or Amkai.
  • Collaborate with CBO and external vendor relationships to achieve excellent performance.
  • Uphold ethical standards, confidentiality, and teamwork in all activities.
  • Familiarize with interfaces and applications that gather registration data and know insurance verification denials.

Job Summary

The Registration Specialist is primarily responsible for verifying insurance benefits, referrals, prior authorization for worker's compensation, and pre-estimation needs. The registration associate acts as an expert resource to all staff within the department and the CBO, related to the processes associated with registering patients, referrals, and worker's compensation pre-authorizations. The Registration Associate demonstrates a service orientation that consistently aims at exceeding client expectations, and which contributes positively to a greater working environment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Verifies eligibility utilizing Epic, Amkai, Availity, Medicaid, Medicare, and similar websites to ensure proper registrations are completed prior to patients entering the facility.
  • Collect pre-payments from patients for non-covered procedures and self-pay appointments.
  • Interact with patients to collect correct insurance/demographic information via email, or phone.
  • Serve as a liaison in all Connecticut Orthopaedic office’s related to registration, referrals, workers compensation, registration, and pre-estimation needs.
  • Add Insurance company/plans, employers, referrals and provider information
  • Handle Workers' compensation authorizations and enter all pertinent information into Epic and/or Amkai as appropriate.
  • Achieves excellence in performance by working with others within the CBO and with tasks and projects related to external vendor relationships.

  • Familiarization of interfaces and applications that gather registration data, such as patient demographics, as well as knowledge of insurance verification and payer registration denial processes.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent
  • EXPERIENCE: Preferred Experience in Epic, Amkai, Practice Management and EMR, Payer Eligibility Web Sites is helpful, Customer service skill set
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
Location & Schedule
  • Wallingford, CT. This is an on-site position.
  • Monday – Friday 9am-5pm
