Qualifications

• Post secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in a customer service role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families to address questions and provide courteous, timely assistance.
• Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs.
• Schedules patient procedures and pre-registers scheduled patients with accurate demographic information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and captures correct health insurance details, securing necessary authorizations and verifications.
• Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable.
• Communicates operative reports to appropriate physician offices.
• Compiles and organizes registration documentation for patient records.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and resolves related questions.
• Documents consent forms when patient cannot sign and notes any surrogate signatures.
• Places armband on each patient for proper identification during stay.
• Answers and returns phone calls with professionalism.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
