Job summary

KidMed Urgent Care in Virginia seeks a Patient Registration Representative to register patients efficiently in a fast-paced setting. You will collect and verify demographics and insurance, greet patients, and act as the main contact between patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Prefer 1 year in patient registration or similar front desk duties.
• Prefer 1 year of health insurance experience.

Responsibilities

• Register patients with accurate demographic and insurance information.
• Serve as the primary contact between patients and medical staff.
• Greet patients with courtesy and a helpful attitude.
• Confirm insurance eligibility for every patient.
• Collect co-pays and balances due at registration.
• Reconcile payments at end of shift and address past-due accounts.
• Answer incoming calls and route to appropriate staff.
• Interpret billing statements for patients as needed.
• Participate in trainings and staff meetings.
• Fax/email confirmed lab results to relevant parties.
• Set up installment payment plans and maintain a clean workspace.

Job Summary

The Patient Registration Representative will perform various duties such as registering patients in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Entering patient demographic and insurance information accurately.
• Serving as the primary contact between patients and the medical personnel.
• Greeting patients upon arrival with a friendly demeanor and helpful attitude.
• Confirming insurance eligibility.
• Collecting co-pays and balances due at the time of registration.
• Reconciling payments at the end of each shift.Addressing accounts that are past due at the time of registration.
• Answering incoming phone calls and forwarding to the appropriate parties.
• Interpreting billing statements.
• Participating in mandatory trainings and attending staff meetings.
• Faxing and/or emailing confirmed lab results to the appropriate parties.
• Setting up installment payment plans.
• Maintaining a clean work environment.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Computer literacy (log in, log out, search engines, etc.)
• Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• Strong telephone and in-person communication skills
• Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI (Protected Health Information) laws/regulations

Required Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• One year experience in patient registration (preferred)
• One year experience with health insurance (preferred)

Salary: $16.50 - $21.50 per hour
