Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles seeks a Patient Registration Representative to deliver a positive patient experience during registration, verify insurance, collect demographics, and explain hospital policies to families.

The role requires meticulous data entry, accurate patient identification, and adherence to CMS billing requirements to support patient satisfaction and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in hospital Patient Registration or related roles.
• Ability to verify insurance and determine financial liability.
• Excellent customer service and communication.
• Fire Safety training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements for Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity and Rehabilitation units.
• Ensures complete, accurate and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system at registration.
• Identifies patients to prevent duplicate medical record numbers.
• Reviews assigned accounts for accuracy and required documentation completeness.
• Meets CMS billing requirements for MSP, MSP notices, Observation Notice, and related regulatory documentation.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Patient Registration Representative, you will ensure a positive patient experience during registration, employing excellent customer service.

Every day you will identify patients, collect accurate demographics, verify insurance, determine/collect financial liability, and explain hospital policies and patient rights to families.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate exceptional customer service, meticulous attention to detail in data/insurance, and strong communication, crucial for patient satisfaction and reimbursement.

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units.
• Ensures complete, accurate and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system at the time of registration.
• Properly identifies the patient to ensure medical record numbers are not duplicated.
• Responsible for reviewing assigned accounts to ensure accuracy and required documentation is obtained and complete.
• Meet CMS billing requirements for the completion of the MSP, issuance of the Important Message from Medicare, issuance of the Observation Notice, and other requirements, as applicable and documenting completion within the hospital's information system for regulatory compliance and audit purposes.

• Minimum 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles.
