Job summary

Mohawk Valley Health System is seeking a Patient Registration Clerk (FLOAT) to collect essential patient information for accurate registration in patient care, billing, and regulatory reporting. You will work under supervision within the Epic system and handle a high volume of data entry across 50+ fields.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: prior healthcare registration experience.
• Preferred: 1 year of medical office, hospital or medical insurance related experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and enter information for 50+ data fields accurately.
• Follow interviewing techniques and scripting when gathering information in person or by phone.
• Demonstrate positive customer service at all times, including face-to-face, phone, and email.
• Explain and complete required facility forms before obtaining signatures.
• Handle payment collection activities, including cash handling.
• Meet or exceed productivity and quality goals.
• May be assigned to clear edits/errors from designated work queues or reports.
• Perform other duties as required.

Under the direct supervision of the manager or designee, the Patient Registration Clerk (FLOAT) is responsible for obtaining required information from patients in order to complete an accurate registration for the use in patient care, billing and all regulatory requirements and documenting all information into correct area within the Epic registration system.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for accurately obtaining and entering information for 50+ data fields.
• Use pre-determined interviewing techniques and scripting when obtaining information from patients and/or patient representatives, in person or via phone.
• Must demonstrate positive customer service, even at the most difficult of times both face to face, phone and via email.
• Understand, explain, and accurately complete required facility forms before obtaining and witnessing patient signatures
• Responsible for payment collection activities, including handling cash.
• Meets or exceeds productivity and quality goals.
• May be assigned to work edits/errors out of designated work queue’s or reports.
• Perform other duties as required.
  

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent

PREFERRED:

• Prior healthcare registration experience
• 1 year of medical office, hospital or medical insurance related experience
