Mohawk Valley Health System seeks a Patient Registration Clerk (FLOAT) to obtain required information from patients and complete accurate registrations for patient care, billing and regulatory purposes using the Epic registration system.

Under supervision, you will handle 50+ data fields, use scripting to extract details, provide friendly customer service, collect payments, witness signatures, and help balance work queues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: prior healthcare registration experience.
• Preferred: 1 year of medical office, hospital or medical insurance related experience.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the manager or designee, the Patient Registration Clerk (FLOAT) is responsible for obtaining required information from patients in order to complete an accurate registration for the use in patient care, billing and all regulatory requirements and documenting all information into correct area within the Epic registration system.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for accurately obtaining and entering information for 50+ data fields.
• Use pre-determined interviewing techniques and scripting when obtaining information from patients and/or patient representatives, in person or via phone.
• Must demonstrate positive customer service, even at the most difficult of times both face to face, phone and via email.
• Understand, explain, and accurately complete required facility forms before obtaining and witnessing patient signatures
• Responsible for payment collection activities, including handling cash.
• Meets or exceeds productivity and quality goals.
• May be assigned to work edits/errors out of designated work queue’s or reports.
• Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent

PREFERRED:

• Prior healthcare registration experience
• 1 year of medical office, hospital or medical insurance related experience
