Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations.
• Pass Medical Terminology within six months of hire.
• Pass ICD-9 and CPT coding exams within six months of hire.
• Typing speed of at least 35 wpm.
• Proficient with a computer and keyboard; pass proficiency exam.
• Pass Epic proficiency exams applicable to job requirements.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient demographic and financial data for billing.
• Obtain documents related to patient ID and insurance.
• Obtain signatures and issue regulatory documents.
• Reconcile charges with services provided.
• Submit data to billing agencies for payment of services.
• Enter diagnoses and input charges for outpatient accounts.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre-certifications.
• Assist patients with financial assistance prior to appointments.
• Collect co-pays and generate reports.
• Maintain department statistics.
• Register patients for NSTs on non-clinic days.
• Transport medical charts/equipment between clinics.
