Job summary

BARNS Barnesville Hospital is seeking an Administrative Clerk for patient registration and financial clearance. You will collect demographic, billing and insurance information, enter data into registration and billing systems, and explain insurance options and hospital procedures.

Responsibilities include obtaining pre-certifications, preparing consent forms, collecting deposits and payments, and balancing cash drawers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Obtains demographic/billing/insurance information and enters into registration and billing systems for service and claim processing; explains insurance, payment of bills and hospital procedures.
• May complete managed care responsibilities in regard to obtaining pre-certification and authorizations.
• Prepares WVU Medicine standard consent form, notice of privacy practice and/or other necessary paperwork related to registration; obtains electronic signature for consent to treat and patient financial obligations.
• Collects deposits/co-payments/deductibles/patient liability payments; provides patient receipt; documents payment in the systems.
• Prepares armband for patient identification.
• Balances daily receipts and cash drawer for patient payments; follows up on accounts as indicated by system flags.
• Schedules, reschedules, or cancels patients in accordance with hospital workflows.
• Checks for order completeness and validates order against scheduled service.
