Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Abilene is seeking a Patient Referral Coordinator to act as a liaison between insurance and healthcare providers, ensuring timely processing of referrals for specialty visits. You will schedule appointments, obtain authorizations, verify insurance, and keep the clinical team updated on referral statuses within the EHR system.

Requirements include an associate degree with 1 year in referrals, or a high school diploma with CMA experience; work Monday

Qualifications

• Associate degree plus one year of experience directly related to the processing of patient referrals.
• OR High school diploma or GED plus three years of experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant;
• OR High school diploma or GED plus five years of experience directly related to patient referral processing, scheduling, billing/collections and/or prior authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Manage operation of the clinic's patient referral requests to ensure timely completion.
• Primary contact for patient referrals and for receiving, tracking referrals.
• Schedule appointments for specialty consultations, radiology and labs.
• Obtain and send insurance authorizations and referrals for consultations and testing.
• Respond to messages in the EHR daily and verify insurance information for referrals.
