Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Abilene, Texas is seeking an Administrative/Clerical role focused on processing patient referrals and coordinating scheduling for specialty visits, radiology, and labs.

The role requires high school or associate degree with relevant experience in referrals, registrations, scheduling, and billing. Experience with EMR and Microsoft applications is preferred. On-site position with TTUHSC affiliation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree plus 1 year of related experience processing patient referrals.
• Or High school diploma/GED plus 3 years as CMA.
• Or High school diploma/GED plus 5 years related to patient referrals, registrations, scheduling, billing/collections, and/or prior authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the operation of the clinic's patient referral requests to ensure timely completion for patient care.
• Primary contact for patient referrals and responsible for receiving, maintaining and tracking referral requests.
• Perform scheduling of appointments for specialty consultations, radiology and laboratory testing.
• Obtain and send insurance authorizations and referrals for patient consultations and radiology and diagnostic testing.
• Respond to and follow up on messages in the EHR daily.
• Verify insurance information for every patient requiring a consultation, specialty radiology, or laboratory testing.
• Provide updates to the clinical team/provider and administration regarding referral patient statuses as needed.
