Job summary

Regions is seeking an experienced medical office administrator to join the Oncology team as a full-time Patient Advocate. The role guides patients through their cancer journey, reviews insurance benefits, and helps with co-pays and outside assistance.

You will verify insurance prior to the first visits and coordinate with physicians, nursing staff, and the care team. The Advocate counsels patients on insurance coverage, assists with transportation and community services, and reviews chemotherapy

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required.
  • 3 years medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interactions.

Job description

Regions is seeking an experienced medical office admin with exceptional customer service skills to join our Oncology team in a full time Patient Advocate role. The Patient Advocate guides patients throughout their cancer journey and across the continuum of care. The Advocate meets with all new treatment patients to review insurance benefits, counsel the patient on insurance benefits and co-payment responsibilities. Assists patients in obtaining outside assistance such as transportation and community services. This position is in regular communication with patients, physicians, nursing staff, members of the care team, third-party payers and community services. Within these responsibilities the Patient Advocate verifies insurance (on primary and secondary insurance) before the first visit is scheduled. Reviews chemotherapy protocols and determines insurance benefits and patient responsibility.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00a-4:30p

Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree
  • 3 years medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interactions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work
