Job summary

TouchPoint Support Services is seeking a Patient Observation Assistant to provide visual and audible observation of assigned patients under RN direction at Henry Ford St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI.

The role involves staying at the bedside, reporting patient status, and assisting with safety and comfort while maintaining confidentiality. We offer full-time and part-time schedules, with Monday–Friday work and alternating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
• CPR AED or BLS-HCP certification within 30 days of hire, if required at the facility.
• Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; lift up to 50 pounds.
• One to two years of previous experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Visually and audibly monitors the assigned patient's condition and behavior at all times.
• Completes observation reports at established interval.
• Remains at the bedside of the assigned patient at all times unless relieved by a staff member.
• Seeks help when patient is in distress or poses a threat, escalating to medical staff as needed.
• Participates in reporting patient safety issues and keeping the patient environment safe.
