Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital Float Pool seeks a Patient Sitter to support safety of at-risk patients in a fast-paced hospital environment under RN supervision. You'll float to EC, Acute Care, and Critical Care, providing compassionate, developmentally appropriate care in a Family Centered approach and adhering to safety standards.

Shifts available: Days 7a-3p. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED, basic nursing knowledge, and BLS certification; CNA preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic nursing care knowledge essential.
• Ability to respond quickly to requests and interact with people at all levels.
• Preferred: 1 year in a psychiatric inpatient/outpatient program; inpatient hospital experience or nursing education enrollment.
• BLS from American Heart Association required.
• CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Remain with the assigned patient at all times during shift.
• Assist RN to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Identify patient response to care and report to RN to achieve outcomes.
• Demonstrate willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills.
• Attend mandatory training and stay current with department expectations.

Job description

We are searching for a Patient Sitter Texas Children's Hospital Float Pool - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting to ensure the safety of patients at risk of harm to self or others, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Care will be delivered that incorporates Family Centered Care in a cost-effective manner and is developmental and age appropriate for the patient population.

Will float to EC, Acute Care, and Critical Care.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of basic nursing care
• Ability to respond quickly to requests and interact with people at all levels
• Preferred Qualifications:
• 1 yr. experience in a psychiatric inpatient or outpatient program, Psychiatric Residential placement programs
• Inpatient hospital experience or enrolled in an accredited Nursing education program
• BLS – Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
• CNA- Certified Nurse Assistant

Responsibilities :

• Sitters are responsible for remaining with the assigned patient at all times during their assigned shift
• Assists the R.N. to provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors and employees
• Assists in identifying patient response to care provided and reports patient condition to the RN to assure achievement of desired outcomes
• Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge, demonstrate new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance
• Attends mandatory training and development activities and meets institutional and departmental health and safety requirements by established deadlinesRemains current in unit/hospital information and job expectations and training
