Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the Float Pool to support fast-paced hospital units. You will perform routine and specialized patient care under RN supervision, delivering Family Centered Care in an age-appropriate, cost-effective way. The role involves floating to EC, Acute Care, and Critical Care as needed.

Shifts available: Days 7a–7p; Full & Part Time options. Requirements include CNA certification/education or BSN in progress or 1 year of direct patient

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with one of the following: CNA certification or related program, BSN in progress with rotation, or 1 year direct patient care experience.
• Respiratory fit testing required for all successful candidates.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced hospital environment across multiple units.

Responsibilities

• Assists with collection and documentation of patient/family data.
• Provides high-quality, cost-effective patient care in collaboration with the RN and with patient/family.
• Assists in identifying patient/family response to care provided.
• Maintains accountability for personal development and supports the development of others.
• Demonstrates teamwork, flexibility, professional communication and customer service.
• Participates in achieving hospital/unit goals.

Education

Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent program

BSN in progress with one clinical rotation

1 year direct patient care experience

Job description

We are searching for a Patient Care Assistant for our Float Pool- someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position, you'll perform a variety of routine and specialized patient care activities, as assigned, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Care will be delivered that incorporates Family Centered Care in a cost-effective manner and is developmental and age-appropriate for the patient population. Requirements:

One of the following required addition to the high school diploma or GED

• Completion of a formal nursing assistant educational program or certification (e.g. Diploma/Course/Certificate/Associates Degree/etc. completed in a Certified Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, or similar clinical education program)
• Currently enrolled in a BSN degree program with one clinical rotation completed at the time of hire
• One (1) year of direct patient care experience
