Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center seeks a Nutrition Services Assistant to coordinate patient menus and diet changes in collaboration with the Nutritional Care Department. You will develop menu tallies for food production and complete the daily meal log to support accurate patient nourishment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Nursing, preparing patient trays, and ensuring strict adherence to dietary requirements, safety standards, and proper sanitation throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Prior food service or patient care experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of dietary needs and food safety protocols preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives food orders by phone, computer, or other means.
• Completes daily meal log accurately and on time.
• Works with nursing units to ensure patient orders are received and processed correctly.
• Sets up tray lines and prepares patient trays per medical nutrition requirements.
• Maintains sanitary work areas and follows infection control policies.
• Balances cash or charge payments if applicable.
