Baton Rouge General is seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Registered Dietitian to join our healthcare team. This position is responsible for managing physician-ordered therapeutic diets, conducting comprehensive nutrition assessments, and providing individualized nutrition education and counseling to patients and families. The Registered Dietitian collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal nutritional care and patient outcomes.

Nutrition Assessment & Clinical Care
Perform comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients receiving medical nutrition therapy.
Review and interpret physician-ordered therapeutic diets to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
Evaluate medical records, laboratory values, and clinical indicators to determine nutritional needs.
Recommend oral diets, enteral nutrition (tube feedings), and parenteral nutrition as appropriate .
Calculate calories , protein, and fluid requirements based on individual patient needs and risk factors.
Interview with patients to evaluate food habits, preferences, and nutritional concerns.
Care Planning & Documentation
Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans.
Provide nutrition interventions and counseling for patients with physician-ordered t h erapeutic diets.
Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient education in the medical record.
Calculate and monitor tube feeding regimens, including volume, concentration, and administration rates.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient care goals.
Monitoring & Evaluation
Monitor patient nutritional status, dietary intake, and response to interventions.
Evaluate food tolerances, allergies, food-drug interactions, and special dietary needs.
Assess patients experiencing nutritional challenges, including poor appetite, chewing difficulties, and swallowing disorders.
Inspect meals for compliance with prescribed diets and standards of quality and presentation.
Provide individualized nutrition counseling using approved educational resources.
Educate patients and families on diet modifications and disease-specific nutrition recommendations.
Conduct nutrition education programs for inpatient, outpatient, and staff audiences.
Serve as a nutrition resource for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Develop and maintain educational materials to support nutrition education efforts.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in departmental quality improvement activities.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in nutrition , Dietetics, or related field.
Possession of a permanent or provisional Louisiana Dietitian/Nutritionist License .
Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and clinical nutrition principles.
S trong communication , organization, and documentation skills .
Preferred
Previous clinical dietitian experience in acute care or healthcare settings .
Experience providing nutrition education and counseling to diverse patient populations.

Requirements
Current registration as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration or meets eligibility for Registered Dietitian Nutritionist via CDR and will become registered within 3 months of hire.
Current Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) issued by the Louisiana Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition (Provisional License accepted).
