Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a Food Service Worker to provide timely tray line setup, patient meal assembly and cafeteria service. You will deliver meals, maintain sanitation, and operate the dish machine in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The role involves cash handling, daily stock, and helping with catered events while upholding SRAlab core values of compassion and excellence. On-site work in Chicago, with a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions for food service.
• Basic math skills for handling cash and counting.
• 1-3 months on-the-job experience to learn procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, efficient and accurate patient tray line setup and patient meal assembly.
• Provide courteous and timely set-up and service in the cafeteria, at cashier stations and for catered events.
• Deliver and retrieve patient meals to and from nursing units in a safe and expedient manner.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of service ware, pots, pans, equipment and work areas.
• Operate the dish machine for service ware sanitation.
• Prepare toast, salads, desserts and other items as directed.
• Operate cash register accurately with proper cash handling.
• Refill beverages and stock cafeteria with items.
• Follow safe food handling practices and health standards.
