Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a Cook to prepare, cook and serve meals in the cafeteria, while ensuring sanitary conditions and adherence to food safety standards. You will support patients and staff with courteous service and maintain clean service areas.

The role involves operating in a kitchen/food service environment with attention to safety and quality, under supervision, with opportunities to contribute to a compassionate care culture.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to manipulate cooking devices and work in a kitchen environment.
• Interpersonal skills to interact politely with staff, patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals in the cafeteria.
• Provide courteous and timely setup and service in the cafeteria.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of service ware, pots, pans, equipment, and work areas.
• Follow safe food handling practices and store items at appropriate temperatures.
• Perform other duties as assigned in the best interest of SRALAB.
