Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a part-time Cook at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. The 0.4 FTE position covers day and evening shifts with 16 hours per week and every-other weekend rotation.

Responsibilities include preparing meals, following standardized recipes, and ensuring food safety and quality for patients, staff, and guests. The role requires basic culinary training with 0–2 years in food service and may involve weight lifting and occasional cash register duties.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience to meet required functional competencies.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Associate's or Vocational degree in the culinary field preferred.
• 0–2 years of food service experience preferred.
• Certification for Food Safety and Handling upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food in a timely, appealing and appetizing manner.
• Uses standardized recipes and proper cooking methods for patients, staff and functions.
• Adequate quantities of food are prepared based on patient need and cafeteria volumes.
• Understands special diets and consults with dietitian as needed.
• Checks temperatures prior to serving food and stores food properly.
• May operate cash register and assist with menu development.
