Job summary

Allina Health in Saint Paul, MN, seeks a cook to prepare meals for patients, staff and guests, using proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety and quality.

This 0.5 FTE evening shift (4:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.) with every other weekend rotation offers 20 hours per week, and opportunities to assist in menu development and restocking while supporting dietary needs in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation of all food served to patients, staff and customers.
• Uses proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety.
• Prepares food in a timely, appealing and appetizing manner.
• Prepares food using standardized recipes and proper cooking methods for patients, staff and special functions.
• Adequate quantities of food are prepared based on patient need and cafeteria volumes.
• Understands special diets and consults with dietitian as needed.
• Uses proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety.
• Checks temperatures regularly prior to serving food.
• Labels, dates, covers and store food properly.
• Utilizes sanitizing techniques for food, self and equipment.
• May assist in restocking work station.
• May assist in putting away grocery orders.
• May operate cash register.
• May assist with menu development.
• May maintain adequate food stock to meet the menu requirements and patient requests.
• Other duties as assigned.
