Job summary

Ochsner Health in New Orleans seeks a licensed practical nurse (LPN) to manage bed board for patient placement and assist with centralized psychiatric placement and telemedicine transfers. The role includes coordinating transport orders, responding to referrals, and ensuring timely bed assignment across campuses.

The ideal candidate has 2 years of LPN experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus strong computer and communication skills.

Qualifications

Proficiency with computers, software and web-based applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service via phone and email and ability to multitask.
Ability to be self-directed, motivated and adaptable to changing systems.
Ability to work extended shifts of 8–12 hours as needed.

Responsibilities

Coordinates transportation by acting as dispatcher and manages bed board for patient placement.
Supports centralized psychiatric placement and telemedicine calls with transfer nurses.
Responds to referrals, ensures complete patient criteria and prioritizes admissions.
Communicates with physicians, nurses, administrators and staff to ensure safe continuum of care.
Performs related duties and stays informed on regulatory standards.
