Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health is seeking a registered nurse to oversee daily patient flow and bed placement decisions in a hospital setting. The role coordinates admissions, transfers, and bed assignments with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient care and throughput.

The position requires an RN license, an associate degree ( Bachelor’s preferred), and at least three years of clinical experience; supervisory or call center experience is a plus. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.

• Requires RN licensure in state of practice.
• Associate degree required; bachelor’s preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical oversight of daily patient flow and bed placement decisions.
• Supports administration, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and flow.
• Coordinates admissions, transfers, and bed assignments based on patient acuity and diagnosis.
• Monitors staffing needs and collaborates with units on capacity surge and flow escalation plans.
• Maintains data collection, monitoring, and evaluation for process improvements.
• Completes rounds and oversees day-to-day operations of nursing units.
