Avera Dell Rapids Clinic is hiring a PRN Medical Office Assistant to coordinate patient scheduling and efficient office flow in a fast-paced environment.

The role supports providers and nurses with non-clinical tasks, handles calls, maintains patient records, and ensures timely communications. Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED, 3–6 months related experience, and CMA certification is preferred. Expect a compassionate, team-focused setting.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED equivalent and 3-6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - CMA certification preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate patient scheduling and office duties under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate appointment scheduling and manage office scheduling policies and parameters.
  • Assist providers and nurses with cancellations, double bookings, follow-up appointments and reminder calls.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records for provider accessibility.
  • Answer and route calls, escalate urgent messages as needed.
  • Support duties such as copying, mail, forms, referrals, reports, and faxing.

Work where you matter.A Brief OverviewAccountable for coordinating the flow of patients through managing calls, schedules, supplies and equipment while assisting provider and nurses with various non-clinical responsibilities.What you will doCoordinates appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters, assisting providers and nurses with cancellations, fill-ins, double booking approvals, follow-up appointments, reminder calls, etc.Responsible to prepare and maintain patient records in an orderly fashion and assure they are accessible to the provider.Answers and routes calls promptly, alerting appropriate personnel to urgent messages/issues that require immediate attention.Assist the provider and nurse with other support duties as time allows, including but not limited to: making copies, opening mail, completion of disabilities forms, complete DME forms, make referrals, running reports, and fax items as requested.Provides information to patients/visitors within scope of knowledge or refers to appropriate individuals.Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified.
