Job summary

Johns Hopkins HealthCare LLC in Baltimore seeks a Financial Counselor to capture patient liabilities and provide counseling to patients/guarantors. You will assist with funding applications (Charity Care and local/government programs) and review pre-, at-, and post-service payment options.

The role requires knowledge of insurance, government programs, and healthcare billing terminology, with strong communication and data documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years' experience in hospital or clinic environment, an insurance company, managed care organization or other financial service setting, performing financial counseling, financial clearance and/or customer service activities.
• Completion of regulatory/mandatory certifications and skills validation competencies preferred
• CAC certification within 6-12 months to be obtained

Responsibilities

• Capture patient liabilities and provide financial counseling to patients/guarantors.
• Assist patients in seeking and applying for healthcare funding (e.g., Charity Care) and review payment options pre-, during-, and post-service.
• Coordinate benefit authorization and management; ensure compliance and exceptional customer service.
• Support continuous improvement in business processes within the Shared Services organization.
