Brown University Health seeks a patient financial advocate to liaise between the rheumatology department, patients and families to determine the patient’s portion of medical expenses and identify resources that may be available for resolution. The role includes obtaining authorizations and coordinating with insurers to secure financial clearance.

The position requires experience in health care finance, strong communication, and the ability to navigate public assistance programs and denials.

Qualificações

• Basic knowledge of third-party coverage and prior authorization processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
• Familiarity with CPT/ICD and medical documentation.
• Proven computer literacy and records management.

Responsabilidades

• Assumes an advocacy role with patients and families to resolve outstanding bills.
• Arranges payment plans and counsels on available resources.
• Interview patients to assess eligibility for public assistance and other programs.
• Obtain documentation and support for applying to programs and appeals.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary pre-authorizations.
