Job summary

Presbyterian System Services in the United States is seeking a Patient Financial Advocate to join the team in Albuquerque, NM. You will perform financial screening on hospital and medical group accounts to identify residual balances and self-pay patients, and guide patients toward available payment options.

This role requires knowledge of assistance programs including Medicaid applications where applicable, and full competency in Presbyterian policy for payment plan administration.

Qualifications

• Experience handling patient financial conversations with empathy and clarity.
• Knowledge of medical billing processes and patient eligibility rules.
• Ability to explain financial options and payment plans to patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform financial screening of hospital and medical group accounts.
• Identify residual balances, high-deductible plan participants and self-pay patients.
• Advise on assistance programs and payment plan options per Presbyterian policy.
• Research disputed balances and resolve outstanding amounts.
• Escalate chronic no-pay or bad debt accounts to supervisor.
• Refer uninsured patients to the Financial Advocacy Center for options.
