Job summary

Memorial Healthcare System is seeking a Patient Financial Services Representative to greet patients and guarantors in hospital, ambulatory or medical office settings. The role acts as the first point of contact, ensuring accurate insurance verification and clear financial guidance.

You will verify benefits, secure required signatures, provide cost estimates, collect copays, balance deposits, and coordinate referrals as part of a patient-centered financial experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• No experience required; 1 year hospital/medical office/customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance benefits and confirms active coverage.
• Determines correct filing order when multiple coverages exist.
• Explains policies and obtains required signatures.
• May perform patient discharge functions including AVS review and referrals.
• Interviews patients/guarantors to obtain necessary information and IDs.
• May confirm physician and prescription orders for accuracy.
• May schedule walk-in appointments for services offered.
• Collects patient out-of-pocket responsibility per guidelines.
• Provides patient estimates and balances a daily deposit of payments.
• Delivers exceptional customer service and addresses questions promptly.
• Directs patients to appropriate destinations for services.
• Obtains pre-certification and authorization.
