Job summary

Saint Francis Health System is seeking a Part-Time Patient Financial Counselor at the Tulsa campus. You will interview and counsel patients to secure payments, verify benefits, and guide eligible individuals through charity and assistance programs.

The role emphasizes accurate data handling, negotiation skills, and strong customer service to support patients, families, and staff in a respectful, compliant manner.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required, Associate degree in healthcare preferred.
• 1–2 years of related experience.
• MS Word, Excel and Access knowledge, strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with government and third‑party payer systems.
• Ability to analyze data, negotiate payments and manage patient accounts.

Responsibilities

• Interview and counsel patients by phone or in person to secure payment for services.
• Assist patients in determining eligibility for programs (e.g., Charity Care, other benefits).
• Verify insurance and benefits with patients, employers, or insurers.
• Obtain authorizations and complete required forms for visits.
• Provide price quotes, determine patient liability, and negotiate payments.
• Set up payment arrangements and collect deposits, co-pays, or deductibles.
• Comply with hospital policies, safety, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with billing problems with the Patient Accounting Department.

Education
