Job summary

Qualifications

• 2 years of collection experience
• Patient Access training course completion
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Detail oriented, organized, team player with excellent customer service and communication
• Associates degree preferred
• CHAA certification preferred
• Knowledge of UB-04, HIPAA and EMTALA regulations
• Experience with medical and insurance terminology and coding systems
• Experience with insurance contracts and pre-certifications

Responsibilities

• Educates patients about financial responsibility via telephone, in-person, or bedside.
• Assesses financial situations for uninsured/underinsured patients and determines eligibility for financial assistance or payment options.
• Negotiates and collects deposits (copays, deductibles, coinsurance) and updates accounts to maximize reimbursement.
• Meets individual and department collection goals.
• Acts as liaison between patients, insurance companies, and service departments to maximize communication and productivity.
