Job summary

Inform Diagnostics is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to support front-end benefits verification, coordination, and authorization for all tests. You will interact with patients, insurance carriers, medical facilities, and providers daily to ensure seamless billing and a smooth revenue cycle.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in health-care customer service and medical billing, knowledge of CPT-4/ ICD-9/ HCPC posting, HIPAA compliance, and strong MS Office skills; excellent communication

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1–3 years of Customer Service in health industry.
• 1–3 years in Medical Billing and Coding.
• 1–3 years in high call volume settings with insurance and patients.
• Knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-9 and HCPC billing, coding and posting charges.
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines (HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid) and payer requirements.
• HIPAA compliance knowledge.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Responsibilities

• Validate health plan eligibility and benefits with payers.
• Maintain accurate documentation.
• Serve as the point of contact for patients to explain coverage and billing.
• Coordinate all patient and insurance billing; verify eligibility and submit authorizations and claims.
• Review physician referrals for completeness and accuracy.
• Establish payment plans to help patients manage payments.
• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software.
• Confirm patient demographic, insurance and physician information in system.
• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
• Provide case progress, insurance inquiries and reimbursement reports to management.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Perform other related duties or special projects.
