Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor in Chattanooga, TN to help patients understand and manage their financial responsibilities. You will review the financial clearance worklist, communicate estimates, and coordinate with Medicaid and insurance teams to secure coverage.

In this role you will follow AIDET, provide excellent customer service, verify benefits, assist with payment plans, and document all encounters in the HIS system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of related experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Follow AIDET guidelines in all patient interactions.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service.
• Visit uninsured patients in-house with Medicaid Eligibility Staff.
• Provide estimates to patients and physicians as requested.
• Generate insurance verification and precertification reports daily.
• Follow Cash Handling policy guidelines.
• Use eligibility systems or websites to determine benefits.
• Assist patients with payment arrangements and financial applications.
• Contact patient employer for verification when needed.
• Escalate concerns to the Patient Access Manager/Supervisor.
• Enter insurance information into HIS system (e.g., Meditech).
• Enter notes for all patient encounters.
• Maintain professional image and customer service standards.
• Complete financial analysis and collect estimated patient liabilities.
• Follow up for signatures if not completed at hospitalization.
