Qualifications

• Educational Requirements: Associate degree in business, healthcare, or related field preferred.
• Experience Requirements: 1+ year of billing, collections, or financial counseling in a healthcare environment required.
• 2+ years of customer service experience in healthcare required.
• Previous experience in collections, revenue cycle, or financial counseling preferred.
• Familiarity with insurance billing, reimbursement processes, and patient financial assistance programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct insurance verification, estimate patient financial responsibility, and provide clear explanations of coverage, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs.
• Collect payments, establish payment plans, and assist patients in completing financial assistance, Medicaid, and other aid applications.
• Review and monitor self-pay and delinquent accounts; initiate follow-up communications and coordinate with external collection agencies when required.
• Counsel patients on available payment options, Trinity Health policies, and financial resources while delivering compassionate and professional support.
• Maintain accurate documentation of financial discussions, account notes, and payment arrangements in the appropriate systems.
• Collaborate with Patient Financial Services leadership and cross-department teams to resolve complex billing issues and ensure timely, compliant financial processing.
