Job summary

Effingham Health System in Georgia seeks a Collector II to manage follow-up and collection efforts on self-pay accounts. The role involves communicating with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while upholding confidentiality.

The position requires self-motivation, creativity, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Under the Accounting Manager, you will ensure accuracy in billing follow-up, maintain records, and input insurance information when applicable.

Qualifications

• Education level equivalent to completion of High School and/or some college preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect on self-pay and balances after third party payments by telephone and/or letters.
• Maintain records and follow up on accounts that have been referred to outside collection agencies, courts, and consumer credit counseling service.
• Provide courteous response to patient contact and answer questions on accounts or collections by patients.
• Assist in detailed follow-up of medical billing to ensure accuracy and timely resolution of issues.
• Analyze patients' medical benefits to provide support for balance inquiries and guidance on responsibilities.
