Job summary

Family Health Center is seeking a Patient Assistance Counselor to assess uninsured and underinsured patients for financial aid eligibility, review applications, and determine award levels to ensure timely access to care.

You will perform outreach, enroll patients in coverage and assistance programs, document interactions, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support patients’ financial needs. Accurate recordkeeping and compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a medical business office, healthcare setting, or comparable environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of basic business math principles, including calculations and percentages with ability to interpret financial statements and tax returns.

Responsibilities

• Documents patient interactions via phone or in person for accurate recordkeeping.
• Conducts outreach and enrollment activities to connect patients with healthcare coverage and grants.
• Reviews financial and medication assistance applications for completeness and eligibility.
• Assists in approval or denial of financial assistance applications within delegated authority.
• Screens patients for program eligibility, calculates income and assets, and determines awards.
