Job summary

Oceans Healthcare is seeking a Financial Counselor to assist patients with medical bills and insurance questions. You will act as a liaison between patients and insurers, ensure accurate balances, and support intake with billing compliance.

You will review benefits with new admissions, update demographic and financial data, and coordinate collections when needed, while adhering to confidentiality and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and patient accounting systems.
• Knowledge of third party payers, Medicare/Medicaid, and payer requirements.
• Strong customer service skills, ability to work in a team, and maintain confidentiality; CPR certification and Oceans approved de-escalation program required.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient demographic and financial information in the patient accounting system.
• Serve as liaison between patients and insurance companies regarding medical bills.
• Maintain accurate account balances per contracts and fee schedules.
• Review insurance benefits and financial obligations with new admissions.
• Reconcile census in the patient accounting system.
• Coordinate non-covered day discussions with Utilization Management and patients.
• Initiate point-of-care collections as appropriate.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
