Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Financial Counselor to guide patients through financial assistance programs and eligibility, blending advocacy, counseling, and revenue cycle work in a fast-paced medical environment.

This role involves meeting with patients, reviewing applications, answering questions, managing queues, and collaborating across patient financial services to ensure access to care.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or equivalent required.
• Experience: 4 years relevant experience in customer service and extensive use of desktop computers and applications. Bilingual candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet with patients to assist with financial assistance applications and eligibility determination.
• Guide patients through available financial assistance programs and resources.
• Process applications accurately and efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
• Manage assigned work queues and account follow-up activities.
• Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
• Support revenue cycle processes that contribute to appropriate reimbursement and account resolution.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards while navigating evolving workflows and processes.
• Partner with team members to promote a positive patient experience and successful outcomes.
