Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Patient Financial Advocate in Jacksonville, FL. This full-time day shift FLOAT role supports Metro Square and additional facilities as needed. You will educate patients on financial responsibility, counsel on insurance benefits, and coordinate financial assistance across the care network.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in customer service or insurance, with healthcare exposure preferred. High School Diploma required; BA/BS preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of customer service or insurance experience (Required)
• Experience in healthcare, patient access, financial counseling, or revenue cycle environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients and responsible parties regarding financial responsibility, payment options, collection procedures, and available financial assistance.
• Counsel patients regarding insurance benefits and recommend alternative payment sources and financial assistance programs when appropriate.
• Contact insurance carriers and other resources on behalf of patients and serve as an advocate throughout the financial assistance process.
• Collaborate with managers, physicians, and servicing departments regarding potential delays in scheduled physician visits, diagnostic testing, and procedures when required authorization has not been obtained.
• Identify patient eligibility for applicable local, state, and federal financial assistance programs.
