Job summary

Baptist Health in Miami is seeking a Patient Access / Collections professional to help patients understand financial responsibility and access options via phone, in person, or bedside. You will assess eligibility for financial assistance, negotiate deposits, and drive departmental collection goals while coordinating with insurance and service teams.

The role requires 2+ years in collections, training in Patient Access, and strong math/interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years collection experience.
• Complete and successfully pass the Patient Access training course.
• Multitask and work under pressure with deadlines.
• Math and analytical skills.
• Detail oriented, organized, team player with customer service skills.
• Associates Degree preferred.
• CHAA Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of medical/insurance terminology, contracts, authorizations, ICD-10, CPT codes.
• UB-04 form knowledge.
• HIPAA/AHCA/EMTALA guidelines knowledge.
• Medicare coverage guidelines familiarity.
• Experience with MS Office and EMR, accurate typing.
• Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help patients understand their financial responsibility via phone, in person, or bedside.
• Evaluate uninsured/underinsured eligibility for financial assistance.
• Negotiate deposits and maximize patient reimbursement.
• Meet individual/departmental collection goals.
• Liaise between patients, insurance, and service departments to maximize communication.
