Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Financial Counselor to educate patients on treatment benefits and financial responsibilities, verify insurance and demographic data, and secure necessary authorizations for chemotherapy and radiation referrals at the Perlmutter Cancer Center locations.

You will liaise with payers, patients, and care teams to obtain benefits, review eligibility, and coordinate with billing specialists to ensure accurate billing while guiding families through financial assistance

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of payer and billing requirements.
• Ability to analyze and update accounts in hospital systems.
• Ability to assist uninsured patients with resources.

Responsibilities

• Verify accuracy of financial, insurance and demographic information.
• Obtain payer requirements and pre-certifications for treatment referrals.
• Determine insurance benefits and patient liabilities.
• Review and obtain pre-authorizations for treatments as needed.
• Coordinate with billing staff to ensure accurate charges.
• Educate patients on treatment benefits and financial responsibilities.
• Act as patient advocate with payers and care teams.
