NYU Langone Health is seeking a Financial Counselor to assist patients with understanding and meeting financial obligations, evaluating eligibility for hospital-based financial assistance, and coordinating with physicians and offices to determine needs. The role emphasizes accurate documentation, program enrollment, and adherence to regulatory standards.

The candidate will need a Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration or Business Administration and 1-2 years in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health administra tion or business administration, or related field
• 1-2 years in a healthcare related field
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
• Ability to handle irate customers and work independently
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic PC applications (word, spreadsheets)

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in understanding and meeting financial obligations to NYU Langone Health
• Interview discharged patients unable to pay bills and review eligibility for programs
• Explain insurance coverage and deposits; help complete applications for financial assistance
• Document assessments in hospital systems and coordinate with PFS/ for follow-up
• Promote quality and effectiveness of financial counseling services
