Job summary

UF Health in Ocala, FL is seeking a detail-focused billing specialist to support patient accounts through the full billing cycle. You will enter charges, apply coding rules, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and help maximize collections while delivering compassionate financial counseling to patients.

In this role, you will resolve front-end edits and replies, collaborate with care teams and external partners, and may float to other UF Health practices to cover staffing needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of business, financial, or physician practice experience required, preferably in patient accounts, billing, or collections.
• Knowledge of CPT and diagnosis coding preferred.
• Experience with the EPIC system preferred.
• A four-year degree may substitute for two years of required financial or physician office experience.
• An associate degree or equivalent coursework may substitute for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Enter charges and apply CPT/diagnosis coding rules.
• Maximize collections and verify insurance coverage.
• Obtain authorizations for services and review patient account detail.
• Provide financial counseling to patients and resolve front-end edits and information requests.
• Interact with internal and external customers; may float to other UFHP practices for staffing.
