Job summary

Akumin is hiring a Patient Coordinator for our Winter Haven facility. This full-time role focuses on patient care, registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and clear communication to ensure a positive patient experience.

You will greet patients, handle registrations, answer calls, collect payments when due, verify insurance, and ensure accurate documentation in electronic systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• CPR certification required prior to hire for Mobile Radiology & Oncology; CPR certification a plus for Fixed Radiology.
• Valid state driver's license may be required.
• Ability to work at several locations.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications/programs.
• Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
• COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
• Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Collects monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization.
• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures (medical history).
• May transport patients to/from exam rooms and assist in transfers on/off exam tables.
• Provide preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area; stock supplies.
• Ensure accuracy of patient records and documentation in electronic systems.
