The role requires strong communication, accuracy, and the ability to work with multiple departments to ensure smooth patient flow. Education is a high school diploma or equivalent, with health care or related coursework a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare, business, or related coursework a plus.
• Previous experience in patient registration, admitting, scheduling, billing, customer service, or a medical office preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance processes, referrals, and prior authorizations (or willingness to learn quickly).
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately enter, verify, and maintain patient information.

Responsibilities

• Explain hospital regulations and processes, including visiting hours, account payments, and charges; escort patients to the appropriate department.
• Enter and verify admitting/registration information and ensure departments receive accurate patient details.
• Maintain required records and documentation with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Coordinate with other departments to support efficient patient flow and service delivery.
• Use strong communication skills to build positive relationships with patients, families, providers, coworkers, and community partners.
• Assist visitors with directions and introductions to support a welcoming environment.
• Maintain a professional, organized, and clean workspace; replenish supplies as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings and assigned trainings; support ongoing professional development.
• Complete work assignments on time with the ability to work independently under normal supervision.
