Job summary

Compass Health Center is seeking a Patient Advocate to liaise between patients and clinical staff, handling inquiries on finances, HIPAA, and administrative procedures. The Chicago office is centrally located in North Center with rooftop social events, and two part-time schedule options are available.

The role emphasizes accurate intake, insurance coordination, and a strong focus on patient-centered care in a crisis-level mental health setting.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in a healthcare/clinical setting.
• Insurance or billing knowledge is a plus; strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review demographics, insurance, and forms for accuracy in charts and intake.
• Conduct New Patient Orientation and Administrative Intake for proper paperwork collection.
• Serve as primary billing information contact for UDS coordination and Genetic Testing coordination.
• Follow up with responsible party to review program cost and collect required documents.
• Coordinate with parents for joint decision-making and obtain necessary consents.
• Be the weekend and after-hours contact for patient inquiries via web.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance for all charts and staff.
• Perform clerical duties to support center operations.
