Job summary

Compass Health Center seeks a Patient Advocate in Chicago to bridge patients and clinical staff, handling intake, insurance details, and HIPAA compliance to ensure seamless care.

Two part-time options are available: about 24 hours/week remote Sundays 12:00–20:00 and Mon Tue 13:00–21:00 onsite in Chicago; or about 15.75 hours/Wed–Fri 15:45–21:00 onsite. Salary ranges $52,000–$58,000 USD yearly.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review demographics, insurance, and forms for accuracy in the patient chart.
  • Conduct New Patient Orientation/Administrative Intake and explain insurance and administrative procedures.
  • Serve as billing contact for UDS coordination and Genetic Testing approvals.
  • Follow up with financially responsible parties to review program costs and collect documents.
  • Coordinate with parents when joint medical decision-making is involved.
  • Serve as weekend and after-hours patient web inquiries contact.
  • Maintain patient charts per HIPAA and Compass policy.
  • Perform clerical duties to support center operations.

Job description

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on CompassHealth Center whenincrisis – every day, wehelp people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role

We are seeking a Patient Advocate to act as a liaison between patients and clinical staff to communicate or resolve incoming inquiries regarding finances, HIPAA, and information as needed. If you arepassionate about providing your patients with exemplary care, while being sensitive to their individual psychiatric conditions, you would be a great addition to our team.

Our centrally located Chicago office is nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of North Center, not to mention the social events hosted on our fully furnished rooftop!

Schedule Options

There are two part-time schedule options available for this position. Your schedule preference will be discussed during the interview process:

  • Option 1 – approx 24 hours/week: Sunday, 12:00 PM–8:00 PM remote, Monday & Tuesday 1:00 PM–9:00 PM onsite in Chicago
  • Option 2 – approx 15.75 hours/week: Wednesday–Friday, 3:45 PM–9:00 PM onsite in Chicago
What You'll Do
  • Reviews the accuracy of demographics, insurance, completion of forms, organizational data to be entered in the chart in a timely manner.
  • Conduct New Patient Orientation/Administrative Intake for accurate intake paperwork collection. Functions as a service regarding insurance and other administrative procedures,
  • Point of contact for billing information for Urinary Drug Screening (UDS) coordination and Genetic Testing coordination. Obtains approval to move forward with services.
  • Follows up with financially responsible party who is not present at intake to review program cost and collects necessary documents for patient to start recommended program.
  • Follows up with patient’s parents if joint medical decision-making consent is needed and obtains necessary documents for patient to start recommended program.
  • Primary contact for weekend and after-hours patient web inquiries.
  • Maintain patient charts according to confidentiality standards and policy. Maintain all patient’s, visitor’s, and staff’s confidentiality according to HIPAA requirements and Compass policy.
  • Performs clerical duties to ensure efficient operations of the center to include computers, office equipment, copiers, fax, scanner, postage equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Who You Are
  • Possess a High school degree or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience in a healthcare/clinical setting
  • Insurance benefit knowledge in healthcare preferred
