Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Patient Service Specialist to manage front office operations in a clinical setting, greet patients, verify insurances, collect co-pays, and ensure patient data integrity and confidentiality. You will support reception, scheduling, referrals, and maintain lobby readiness.

The role requires 1–3 years of medical office experience, a High School Diploma or equivalent (Associates preferred), and knowledge of medical coding, billing, HIPAA, and OSHA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates preferred.
• 1–3 years medical office experience preferred.
• Understanding of medical coding and billing.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations including OSHA and HIPAA.
• Competent with common PC applications including Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office.
• Able to supervise, train, and evaluate staff.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner and informs about delays.
• Obtains registration data, insurance information, and photo ID at each encounter.
• Promptly and accurately enters patient data into the computer system.
• Verifies insurance and collects co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles.
• Follows HIPAA guidelines and maintains confidentiality of patient and staff information.
• Balances daily charges and safeguards received money.
• Manages patient charts and coordinates referrals as needed.
• Assists staff and schedules provider referrals; keeps lobby clean and stocked.
